Haynes and Boone Moves Charlotte Office to Bank of America Tower

February 03, 2021

Haynes and Boone, LLP has moved to a new Charlotte office, signing a long-term lease in a larger space that will enable the 600-lawyer firm to continue expanding in the Charlotte market for years to come.

Haynes and Boone opened its new office on February 1, 2021 in the Bank of America Tower, located in the Legacy Union district of Uptown Charlotte and adjacent to Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers.

“This move gives us the flexibility to significantly grow our footprint in Charlotte and signals our long-term commitment to this thriving market,” said Todd Cubbage, administrative partner of Haynes and Boone’s Charlotte office. Cubbage has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry representing lenders and commercial paper conduits in structuring, negotiating and documenting sophisticated lending arrangements. “Our lawyers and clients will love our new, modern space, which is efficiently designed to maximize productivity and collaboration.”

Haynes and Boone opened a Charlotte office in 2019 following its hire of veteran finance lawyer Justin Riess, who began his career at Moore & Van Allen, PLLC and has worked in the Charlotte market for more than 20 years. Riess is the hiring partner for Haynes and Boone’s Charlotte office, which is supported by experienced finance lawyers who focus on complex bilateral and syndicated financial transactions, in the areas of capital commitment subscription finance, commercial middle market lending, leveraged lending, asset-based lending, specialty finance, private equity finance, and real estate lending.

“Charlotte is a key hub in our worldwide Finance Practice, which has been one of the cornerstones of Haynes and Boone since its founding,” said Haynes and Boone Managing Partner Taylor Wilson. “Our new office will allow us to continue the momentum we have established in Charlotte. It also mirrors the growth we are enjoying in other markets where we do business.”

Haynes and Boone posted healthy revenue growth in 2020, buoyed by its practice and geographic breadth and by a strong technology platform that has allowed its lawyers to work seamlessly throughout the pandemic. The firm hired more than 40 lateral attorneys last year and made significant investments in various markets, including opening a new office in San Francisco, occupying newly renovated offices in Houston, and announcing that it will relocate its Dallas office in the fourth quarter of 2023 to a new 27-story office tower that will be constructed in the Harwood District of Uptown Dallas.

Haynes and Boone is an international corporate law firm with offices in Texas, New York, California, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Washington, D.C., London, Mexico City and Shanghai, providing a full spectrum of legal services in energy, technology, financial services and private equity. With 600 lawyers, Haynes and Boone is ranked among the largest U.S.-based firms by The National Law Journal, The American Lawyer and The Lawyer. It also was recognized across the board for excellence in the BTI Consulting Group’s 2020 “A-Team” report, which identifies the law firms that in-house counsel commend for providing superior client service.
