D CEO Features Four Haynes and Boone Lawyers in Dallas 500 Listing

November 12, 2019

Four Haynes and Boone, LLP lawyers have been recognized in D CEO Magazine’s listing of Dallas’s most influential business leaders. Firm Co-Founder Michael Boone, Managing Partner Tim Powers, and Partners Jeff Dorrill and Sakina Rasheed Foster were included in the 2020 “Dallas 500” directory.

Featuring the region’s most powerful leaders across 53 industries, the Dallas 500 provides an engaging, personal look at the people who have made Dallas-Fort Worth such a powerful economic force.

Honorees shared professional and personal details, challenges they have had to overcome in their lives and careers, hobbies, bucket list goals, and other fun facts. Here are excerpts:

Mike Boone

Boone, co-founder and partner, has seen the firm grow from a two-person enterprise to having 17 offices and more than 575 lawyers today. While he says the toughest challenge is the “ever-increasing competition in the legal industry worldwide,” Boone is not finished expanding his firm’s global reach. “We have enjoyed growth in geographic markets in the U.S. and abroad that have long been areas of strategic focus,” he says. His favorite possession is his old Bible, in which he has kept meaningful notes to himself. His favorite sports team is his alma mater, the Highland Park High School Scots.

Tim Powers

As managing partner of Haynes and Boone, Powers manages the firm’s growth strategies, which have included opening a new office in Charlotte, N.C., and a move to a larger office in London this year. “The growth is a testament to our clients,” he says. In his spare time, Powers enjoys rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the UCLA Bruins, and sharing the “good wine” in his wine cellar with family and friends.

Sakina Foster

In addition to her role as a partner in Haynes and Boone’s Finance Practice Group, Foster serves on the Dallas Bar Association’s Board of Directors. “The DBA is an outstanding organization that focuses on serving the legal profession in Dallas, and I am proud to have the opportunity to work alongside the lawyers on this board,” she says. One of her destinations of choice is Andalusia, Spain, for its “breathtaking” blend of Muslim, Christian and Jewish architecture.

Jeff Dorrill

Dorrill, a partner and chair of the firm’s Tax Practice Group, focuses on structuring and negotiating partnerships, limited liability companies, and shareholder agreements, as well as federal income tax and state taxation. One of his toughest challenges this year was coming back from two horrific bicycle crashes during races in 2018. His favorite possession is a piece of the old scoreboard from Yankee Stadium, which hangs on his office wall.

The 2020 issue of D CEO Magazine’s Dallas 500 was distributed in November.
