Julia Peebles Wins Texas Young Lawyers Association Election for District Director 6

May 03, 2022

The State Bar of Texas announced this week that Haynes and Boone, LLP Associate Julia Peebles was elected to the board of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA). She will represent Houston as TYLA District Director 6, Place 2.

Directors are nominated and elected by the TYLA members in their districts and serve two-year terms. TYLA is a department of the State Bar of Texas, commonly referred to as its “public service arm.” All Texas-licensed attorneys in their first 12 years of practice are TYLA members.

In one of two contested TYLA elections this year, Julia was elected with 65.15% of the votes. She says she plans to advocate for the city of Houston and its community of young lawyers on the TYLA board of directors.

A member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, Julia represents clients in all stages of litigation, from successfully negotiating deals, to composing winning trial and appellate briefs on various subjects including discrimination claims and breach of contract disputes.

She earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center, where she serves as faculty director of the Moot Court Team and received the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section’s Award for Appellate Excellence in Appellate Advocacy for the University of Houston Law Center.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
