Press Release-Crisis Management

Lauren Brogdon Selected for FEMA Vanguard Executive Crisis Leaders Fellowship

January 26, 2024

Lauren Brodgon, partner and chair of Haynes and Boone, LLP’s Crisis Management Practice Group, has been selected as a fellow for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s Vanguard Executive Crisis Leaders Fellowship.

Throughout the two-week fellowship, participants meet with influential experts both within and outside of emergency management. Through a series of focused discussions with top experts and peers, fellows engage in seminars, site visits with crisis leadership experts, and roundtable sessions to discuss and debate shared challenges. The program is designed to build strong bonds among the cohort through personal reflections, collaborative problem-solving, and sharing of crisis leadership stories. Post-fellowship, FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute provides support and engagement opportunities to build relationships across all cohorts, forging bonds that support alumni as they face the evolving challenges and crises to come.

“This program will allow me to learn from and share best practices with the nation’s most senior crisis leaders in government and private practice, so I can bring those ideas and lessons back to the clients I serve in emergent crisis situations,” Lauren said.

Certified in Crisis Leadership, Lauren brings a robust understanding of the challenges that her clients face during both routine emergencies and unprecedented incidents. She applies this knowledge and experience to planning and implementing response plans and assisting clients with crisis recovery, all with an eye toward avoiding liability.

“In my crisis practice, I’ve learned that the skills required for responding to one type of catastrophic incident easily translate across industries, sectors, and geographic boundaries,” Lauren said. “Through this invaluable peer-to-peer, interactive experience, I look forward to discussing and debating the challenges we share as crisis leaders and moving the needle towards improving personal and collective preparedness.”

Lauren has significant experience representing energy clients in suits related to hydraulic fracturing and other oil and gas operations, mass tort litigation arising from catastrophic industrial accidents, and toxic tort suits involving chemical exposure and environmental contamination. She has handled high-profile cases related to fires, chemical spills, pipeline explosions, and other disasters. She also frequently advises boards, C-suites, and business-unit heads on a range of litigation avoidance, product liability, and marketing strategies.
