September 8, 2026

Haynes Boone London Partner Philipp Kurek has been featured as a Distinguished Adviser in Financier Worldwide’s Power Players: Investor-State Arbitration 2026. Kurek is one of only five lawyers profiled by the directory, placing him among a select group of practitioners recognized for their work in investor-state arbitration.

The publication profiles industry-leading professionals with deep experience in investor-state arbitration, offering readers insight into their careers, approaches to client service and perspectives on the evolving legal landscape.

“It is an honor to be included among the leading practitioners in the world in investor-state arbitration,” Kurek said. “It is especially gratifying to be featured alongside practitioners whose work in this area I greatly respect. I am grateful to my clients and colleagues for the trust and support that make this work possible.”

In a Q&A feature with Financier Worldwide, Kurek reflects on career-defining matters, his approach to tackling complex cross-border disputes and the importance of understanding clients’ commercial objectives. He also discusses the rapid evolution of investor-state arbitration, including developments in energy policy, financial regulation and infrastructure, as well as the emerging role of artificial intelligence.

Kurek is part of Haynes Boone’s Energy Litigation Practice Group and focuses on cross-border disputes resolved through international arbitration, including investment treaty and complex commercial arbitration. He has more than 15 years of experience representing clients in high-value treaty disputes. Kurek is also ranked by Chambers in the directory’s UK and Global listings, and was recognized in the 2026 Legal 500 UK guide.

This recognition is the latest in a historic year for Haynes Boone’s growing London office, highlighted by a relocation to an expanded space in the heart of the City of London after growing to become the firm’s third-largest outpost. The firm’s corporate practice has advised on several market-leading deals and was recently recognized as the No. 1 U.S. law firm by number AIM-listed clients in the AIM Advisers Rankings Guide.
