Haynes and Boone, LLP Associate Sally Dahlstrom this week received the Future Leader Award from the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising during the group’s 45th annual meeting in San Diego, Calif.
The Forum on Franchising is the preeminent forum for the study and discussion of the legal aspects of franchising. Its goals include enhancing the professional growth of forum members and promoting full and equal participation of minorities, women, and other under-represented groups in forum activities.
The Future Leader Award recognizes a lawyer who has demonstrated “significant leadership efforts,” such as mentoring other forum members; work on membership, marketing or other outreach efforts; assistance with special projects or a forum division; or helping with the forum's annual meeting.
“This prestigious award is a well-deserved recognition for Sally, who not only is a leader in the franchise bar but also at Haynes Boone. Sally’s clients and colleagues alike value her consummate skill, intelligence, and professionalism,” said Partner Deborah Coldwell, who is ranked nationally in Band 1 by Chambers USA, Chambers and Partners, 2009-2022, in franchise law and is a past chair of the forum.
Sally is an accomplished litigator who regularly represents clients in high-stakes lawsuits in state and federal courts and arbitrations across the country. She has handled disputes on topics ranging from franchise and distribution networks, oil and gas transactions, trademark infringement, trade secrets, contracts, fraud, defamation, business disparagement, and disputes about the sale of major businesses.
In her franchise practice, Sally routinely defends claims by individual franchisees, under franchise statutes, for rescission, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing, misrepresentation and interference, enforcing terminations, and bankruptcy litigation. Sally has particular experience in the area of injunctions, especially regarding trademark infringement and enforcement of restrictive covenants against franchisees, dealers, distributors, or licensees.
Sally serves on the ABA Forum on Franchising Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and is a member of the Forum’s Young Lawyer’s Division. She was listed among "Ones to Watch" in Best Lawyers in America, Woodward/White, Inc., 2022-2023.
