Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Jim Shimota has been recognized in the Intellectual Property Litigation category of the Illinois 2017 Super Lawyers (Thomson Reuters) annual award listing.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Of those nominated, only five percent of the total lawyers in the state are selected for inclusion.
At the firm, Shimota is the administrative partner of the Chicago office. As a member of the Haynes and Boone Intellectual Property Practice Group, Shimota concentrates his practice on all aspects of post-issuance patent practice. He also counsels clients on building patent portfolios inorganically through strategic acquisitions. Shimota has extensive experience before judges and juries in federal courts across the country as well as the United States International Trade Commission and arbitration panels.
