Biography
Lauren Coppola, a partner in Haynes Boone’s New York Litigation Practice Group, is laser focused on obtaining the best results for her clients- in and out of the courtroom. Lauren is a litigator with experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of complex commercial disputes. Her experience includes cases involving business torts, employment matters, trade secrets, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, civil RICO, and mergers and acquisitions. Lauren has an active trial practice, and has appeared and argued in a variety of forums, including state and federal courts and in arbitrations in New York, Massachusetts, Illinois, California, Delaware, and around the country. In addition to her trial work, Lauren is an accomplished appellate lawyer, and has successfully argued appeals before the federal Court of Appeals and state appellate courts. She is often brought into cases to help frame and preserve critical issues for appeal.
With two decades of experience in the telecommunications sector, Lauren advises clients navigating this rapidly evolving industry. - Defended a start-up manufacturer and its founder against claims of trade secret violations, and succeeded in obtaining dismissal of all claims prior to trial without payment.
- Obtained successful settlement for defendants on civil RICO and fraud claims mid-trial jury trial.
- Secured reversal of Federal Communications Commission Order that threatened client’s business at Ninth Circuit as arbitrary and capricious.
- Prosecuted breach of contract and business tort claims on behalf of voice and video application against cloud based communications platform.
- Represented competitive telecommunications carrier before public utility commission and federal district court on claims of invalid tariffs.
- Lead trial counsel for corporate and individual defendants and counterclaim plaintiffs in a suit for breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duties.
- Secured a multi-million dollar jury verdict and judgment for payroll company for breach of license agreement and business torts.
- Successfully defended private equity firm that was sued for $500 million as a result of proposed merger that did not close.
