Biography

Chelby Sterling is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group in Haynes Boone’s Houston office. She is also a member of the firm’s Nuclear Verdicts and Trials Practice Groups.

Chelby’s practice focuses on a broad range of complex litigation matters. She focuses on employment litigation, representing energy companies, and oil and gas matters.

During her final year of law school, Chelby served as a Managing Editor on the Tulane Maritime Law Journal and was awarded the Robert Force Award for Outstanding Managing Editor.

  • Second chair in a two-and-a-half-day jury trial in Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 3. Handled motions in limine, evidentiary objections, exhibit preparation, and prepared demonstratives for opening and closing. The jury returned a unanimous verdict for the client on all issues after two hours of deliberation.
  • Successfully argued a motion to strike a jury demand in Harris County District Court.
  • Successfully second-chaired a motion to transfer venue for convenience argument in Dallas County Court-at-Law.
