January 17, 2017

Chad Mills will be leaving Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, LLP’s Houston office to Haynes and Boone, LLP where he will join the firm’s Commodities Trading and Finance and Projects practices.

“Chad’s practice will fit in well with our existing Commodities Trading and Finance partners in Houston, Washington and New York,” said Buddy Clark, leader of the firm’s energy practice. “Adding Chad, who has represented many leading financial institutions and energy companies, will make us that much stronger. This is a natural fit for our group.”

“We are thrilled to be landing top talent like Chad,” said Haynes and Boone Managing Partner Tim Powers. “Houston remains a highly competitive market for top legal talent, and we know he had many options available to him.”

Mills has significant experience handling structured energy transactions and related energy trading agreements. He counsels energy industry clients in connection with the acquisition, divestiture and development of powers facilities, including renewable energy, natural gas and midstream assets. He is widely recognized in his field, including being named a “Lawyer of the Year” in Derivatives and Futures Law by Best Lawyers in America (WoodwardWhite, Inc.)

Mills will join Haynes and Boone’s highly-regarded Commodities Trading and Finance and Projects Practices, which spans the firm’s Houston, New York, London, Washington, D.C., and Dallas offices and includes lawyers who previously worked as in-house counsel at leading global energy companies and other international businesses.

The team represents energy clients in a broad range of commodities trading matters, including physical supply, transportation and storage, and financial derivatives transactions. The group also assists clients with a variety of commodities financing transactions, from the traditional to the more innovative.

With his experience helping to develop liquefied natural gas projects, Mills will also augment Haynes and Boone’s leading Liquefied Natural Gas practice, which handles projects throughout the U.S. and internationally.
