Erin Hennessy, Laura Prather Among Shortlist Finalists for 2020 Euromoney Americas Women in Business Law Awards

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partners Erin Hennessy and Laura Prather have been selected as finalists for the Americas Women in Business Law Awards spotlighting leading women lawyers in their practice areas.

The annual awards recognize lawyers for providing exemplary services and driving success for their practices. The recipients are judged on their professional accomplishments, as well as advocacy and influence in their practice areas, and are selected by senior editorial staff at Euromoney Legal Media Group following an extensive research process. Euromoney will announce the winners virtually on Sept. 17.

Erin Hennessy


Based in New York, Hennessy focuses her practice on Intellectual Property (IP) trademark law, copyright law and internet and social media issues across industries such as media, publishing, technology, retail, fashion and financial services. Among her accolades, she has been recognized by Chambers USA, Chambers and Partners, IP (2014-2016), The Legal 500 U.S., IP - Trademarks: Non-Contentious (2014-2018); Best Lawyers, Woodward/White, Inc., Trademark Law (2013-2020); World Trademark Review 1000, Globe Business Publishing, Trademark (Washington) (2013, 2016-2019); Trademark: Prosecution and Strategy (New York) (2017-2019); Managing IP, Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC, Trademark IP Star (Washington) (2016-2019); Trademark IP Star (New York) (2018-2020); and Copyright Star (New York) (2020).

Hennessy serves as counsel to the International Trademark Association (INTA) Board of Directors and as vice chair of the INTA Political Action Committee. She also is a member of the Miami University College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board and the Corsearch Advisory Board.

Laura Prather

Prather is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group in Austin, with a focus on First Amendment, Anti-SLAPP, IP and media and entertainment litigation and appeals. Prather has been recognized in Chambers USA, Chambers and Partners, for Nationwide - First Amendment Litigation (2017-2020). She recently received The American Lawyer's Tony Mauro Media Lawyer Award in recognition of tireless and successful efforts advocating for legislation to strengthen First Amendment rights in Texas.

Prather works on legislative initiatives and lobbying as a member of the Texas Association of Broadcasters’ Legislative Task Force, the Public Participation Project’s National Board of Directors, the General Counsel for the Legislative Advisory Committee of the Texas Press Association, and as a co-chair of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas’ Legislative Committee. Prather’s advocacy does not stop at the Legislature; she defends free speech rights for national, state and local media outlets in courtrooms throughout Texas and beyond.
She was a finalist for the Americas Women in Business Law Awards in 2014.
