Veteran Finance Lawyer Matthew Frankle Joins Haynes and Boone's New York Office

September 17, 2019

Haynes and Boone, LLP has bolstered its finance practice with the addition of Matthew Frankle, who joins as a partner in the firm’s New York office.

Matt’s practice focuses on secured lending transactions, generally involving syndicated or bilateral loans secured by hedge fund interests or concentrated listed stock positions. He also advises clients, including major financial institutions, in equity derivatives, securities law, and cryptocurrency matters.

“Matt has almost two decades of experience handling complex finance matters on behalf of sophisticated clients,” said Neal Kaminsky, chair of Haynes and Boone’s Finance Practice Group. “He adds tremendous skill and depth to our stellar structured equity and margin lending practice group.”

Frankle joins Haynes and Boone from Greenberg Traurig LLP, where he was a shareholder. He began his career at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and later practiced at several major investment banking firms in New York, where he handled equity derivatives and margin lending transactions, among other matters.

“Haynes and Boone has a very established practice in margin lending, and I have had the good fortune to work with many lawyers at the firm,” Frankle said. “It was a no-brainer for me to join such a phenomenal group of lawyers who I know and trust.”

Craig Unterberg, the managing partner of Haynes and Boone’s New York office and the head of its New York-based Structured Equity and Margin Lending Practice Group, said Frankle continues the recent growth of the firm’s Finance Practice and New York office, which have added other experienced partners this year. “Matt expands our capacity with respect to margin lending, equity derivatives, and cryptocurrency matters and help us sustain the momentum we have established in New York,” Unterberg said.
