Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Craig Unterberg has been elected vice president of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY), representing the American Jewish Committee of New York (AJC-NY).
JCRC-NY is the proactive central coordinating and resource organization for the Jewish community in the eight-county metropolitan New York area. The organization protects and ensures the continuity and vitality of the diverse metropolitan area Jewish community while serving New Yorkers of all backgrounds and faiths.
Unterberg previously served as the president of the AJC-NY – a leadership role for which he was recently commended by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. AJC-NY works to combat antisemitism, bigotry, and racism, promote Israel’s place in the world, and counter the spread of radicalism and extremism.
In April 2019, Unterberg led a delegation of Jewish leaders from AJC-NY that met with Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to discuss anti-Semitism, human rights, and other issues of shared concern. The six-day visit to Portugal also included meetings with several top government officials and visits with the Jewish and Muslim communities.
At Haynes and Boone, Unterberg is managing partner of the New York office and leads the firm’s Margin Lending and Structured Equity Practice Group. He has deep knowledge on U.S. margin regulations and advises a multitude of financial institutions and hedge funds. He has significant experience handling complex onshore and offshore margin facilities having worked on a large number of single stock and portfolio loan transactions to hedge funds, investment companies and private equity groups. In addition, Craig has been ranked by Chambers for his high-caliber compliance advice to clients on banking regulatory matters.
