Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Dan Malone was quoted in an article from Mergers & Acquisitions discussing how mid-market M&A finally showed signs of picking up in April, but not nearly at the pace dealmakers were originally hoping for, and the Fed’s decision to keep rates the same is not going to help matters.
“The middle market needed a spark that didn’t happen in yesterday’s meeting,” says Malone. “Many dealmakers entered 2024 looking for a signal from the Fed that the economy was on a path to recovery, paving the way to rate cuts in June. Based on the comments from yesterday’s meeting, the optimism seems to be delayed.”
