After a two-week jury trial in Oklahoma City, a team of Dallas-based Haynes Boone lawyers has obtained a complete defense win on behalf of an energy client who had been fighting a false claims act case for the last 11 ½ years.
Partner Tom Kurth led the firm’s defense team, which included Partner Jeremy Kernodle and Associate Andrew Guthrie. The Haynes Boone team was ably complemented by attorneys Rob Robertson and Greg Metcalfe with the Oklahoma firm of Gables and Gotwals.
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit had taken a number of interlocutory appeals. The jury was out for less than three hours before deciding that plaintiffs would take nothing from the more than $30 million in claimed damages.
