Project Finance Lawyer Conrad Purcell Joins Haynes Boone’s London Office

September 17, 2021

Conrad Purcell, who advises on the financing and development of major infrastructure projects in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in its Energy, Power and Natural Resources Practice.

Conrad counsels sponsors, developers, and funders of major infrastructure projects spanning a broad range of sectors, including onshore and offshore wind farms, battery storage facilities, satellite and fiber networks, data centers, and toll roads and bridges. He has in-depth experience drafting and negotiating finance documents and commercial agreements, such as construction contracts, real estate and power purchase agreements, and joint venture and shareholder agreements.

“Conrad has handled virtually all aspects of infrastructure projects, from the planning stages to completion, in many markets across the world,” said Partner Jeff Nichols, co-chair of Haynes Boone’s Energy Practice Group. “His experience allows him to deftly guide clients so that they reach their strategic objectives in an efficient and commercially viable manner.”

Conrad most recently was a partner in the Energy & Utilities Sector Group of International law firm Bird & Bird. He also previously served as in-house lawyer for RES Group, an independent renewable energy company active in onshore and offshore wind, solar, energy storage and transmission and distribution.

“Given its deep roots in the energy and renewables industry and experience with the development and financing of projects in many markets, Haynes Boone offers the perfect platform for my practice,” Conrad said. “I am also excited about the growth of the firm’s London office. I look forward to serving as an English-law resource for Haynes Boone’s clients and helping the firm expand its reach in key markets worldwide.”

Since opening a London office in 2016, Haynes Boone has more than doubled its partner headcount in the city. To accommodate the growth and its plans for further expansion in the market, Haynes Boone moved to larger London offices in 2019.

Lawyers in Haynes Boone’s Energy, Power and Natural Resources Practice represent power suppliers, marketers and load-serving entities in the development of, and refinements to, the power markets. The firm is a pioneer in providing legal services to the renewable energy industry, starting early with a practice that included wind, landfill gas, solar and storage. The Energy, Power and Natural Resources group also has deep roots in the U.S. oil and gas industry, as well as with major international oil and power companies.
