A Haynes Boone legal team led by Partner Larry Pascal advised clients Fernando Alarcon and Ultra Padel in an international private offering that raised capital for the construction of a Padel club in Miami.
Padel is a popular racquet sport in Europe and Latin America that is quickly gaining strength it the U.S. It is played on an enclosed court that is about 25% smaller than tennis courts.
Alarcon, the top-ranked Padel player in the U.S., and his partners are building a nine-court facility in Miami called Ultra Padel, which will feature four indoor Padel courts and five outdoor courts. The club plans to host a U.S. Padel Association-sponsored tournament, the USPSA Master Finals, in December.
A veteran deal lawyer with more than 25 years of experience advising companies on cross-border Latin American and Spanish projects, Pascal is the chair of Haynes Boone’s Americas Practice Group and co-chair of the International Practice Group.
A former Division 1 college tennis player, Pascal is now also a nationally ranked Padel player who has won several sanctioned Padel tournaments at the advanced level in the US. Earlier this year, he was invited to represent the U.S. in the Padel equivalent of the Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay. He was assisted in the transaction by Haynes Boone Partner Lauren White, who advises a range of businesses in business planning and tax issues, from initial formation and operation to disposition.
