Transactional Corporate Finance Partner Diego Sanchez Joins Haynes Boone in Mexico City

Haynes and Boone, LLP is delighted to welcome Partner Diego Sanchez to the firm’s Mexico City office. Joining from Baker McKenzie, Diego has led numerous high-profile mergers, acquisitions transactions and private equity matters.

In more than 15 years of practice in Mexican and U.S. prestige law firms, Diego works in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, banking and structured finance matters, including cross-border transactions. Diego has experience in a wide range of industries, most notably in the technology and financial services industries, particularly in the fintech, software, hardware, funds, investments, and investment banking subsectors, where he has represented an aggregate deal value of more than $25 billion.

“Diego brings a wealth of experience to Haynes Boone and will be a valuable addition to our growing team here in Mexico City,” Haynes Boone Mexico City Office Managing Partner Edgar Klee said. “He has extensive experience in various domains and will certainly bolster our capabilities in M&A transactions.”

Diego notably advised Finest Resorts in the acquisition of land in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, from Transat AT Inc., and Grupo Pantaleon in the acquisition of Ingenio Pánuco, S.A. de C.V. and Ingenio el Mante, S.A. de C.V. He also advised Blue Torch Finance LLC in the acquisition of Bank of America's credit rights with Celadon Group Inc. He continued to advise Blue Torch in the sale of Celadon's business in Mexico to Jaguar Transportation Inc.

Diego also has a wealth of experience in capital markets transactions, which includes projects such as the Proteak IPO (the first IPO by a SAPIB), Fibra Educa, Fibra Plus, Fibra Danhos, Carza CKD, PREI II CKD, and the securitization of rights stemming from a PPS Agreement for APP Coatzacoalcos Villahermosa, a subsidiary of Mota Engil.

With the addition of Diego, the Mexico City office of Haynes and Boone has added three partners in 2023, which reflects the firm’s commitment to the Latin American market.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Diego has dedicated time to pro bono work as an adviser to Banca Ética Latinoamericana, a fund created in Chile that works closely with companies and organizations to manage responsible financing and ESG-related projects to ensure that money is directed to causes that generate a genuine and positive impact.
