Sakina Rasheed Foster Joins Board of Texas Women's Foundation

August 25, 2020
Haynes and Boone, LLP Finance Partner Sakina Rasheed Foster has joined the Board of Directors for the Texas Women’s Foundation, an organization committed to advancing economic security and leadership opportunities for women and girls.

The foundation strives to achieve an equitable society where women and girls are full participants. Since 2013, about 90,000 women and families have benefited from its leadership and economic security initiatives.

Foster has been involved with the foundation for several years and has worked closely with an affiliated group called the Orchid Giving Circle, a group of Asian American women in North Texas who pool their resources to provide grants for organizations that give back to people in need in the Asian American community. The group has funded grants to Asian Breast Health Outreach Project, Mosaic Family Services, Heart House and the Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation, among others.

The Texas Women's Foundation board is one of the most diverse and powerful boards in the region, says Chair A. Shonn Brown.

“Texas Women’s Foundation was built on dedication to equity and deep commitment to ending injustice. Our history speaks volumes – from the racial, cultural, ethnic and social diversity of our founders, to the fact that today our board is 49 percent and our staff 53 percent women of color and LGBTQ,” Brown said. “As chair, I am proud of what we have achieved, yet I know we have so much more to do as advocates for gender and racial equity.”

Foster is a partner in Haynes and Boone’s Finance Practice Group who focuses on representing financial institutions and borrowers in complex commercial loan transactions, as well as airlines and aviation matters. She has experience in advising banks, private equity firms, corporations and individuals in connection with senior and subordinated financing, including drafting documentation and negotiating deal points for syndicated and single bank loan facilities, asset-based lending, acquisition financings, real estate construction loans, mortgage warehouse lending and loans secured by unique collateral, such as mortgage servicing rights.

In May, Foster was profiled in D CEO magazine as one of the region’s most influential business leaders. Editors based their selections on discussions with numerous contacts in local business circles and hundreds of interviews. She was also included in D Magazine’s 2020 Best Lawyers in Dallas directory for which lawyers are nominated by their peers for their unparalleled counsel. She was selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars, Thomson Reuters, in 2018.

Foster also serves on the board of the Dallas Bar Association (DBA) and was previously president and director of the Dallas Asian American Bar Association.
