The Journal of International Maritime Law recently reviewed “The Law of Shipbuilding Contracts,” a fifth-edition book authored by Haynes and Boone Partner William Cecil, Senior Counsel Simon Curtis, and Ian Gaunt, president of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (2017-2020).
The book is described as “the leading practical guide to explaining the basic principles and law underlying standard contracts used in the shipbuilding industry, and is the go-to work, not just for English solicitors, counsel and arbitrators, but also the lay client and international lawyers looking for the English perspective.”
The latest edition of “The Law of Shipbuilding Contracts” updates and expands on the previous edition, which was published in 2012. It has been comprehensively updated, including commentary on recent High Court decisions on shipbuilding contracts and the ancillary agreements to a shipbuilding project, including refund guarantees. For the first time, the book includes additional commentary on offshore construction contracts.
