Edward Lebow Secures Favorable Trade Ruling for Thai Client

April 24, 2017

Haynes and Boone, LLP Counsel Ed Lebow helped client The Siam Industrial Wire Co., a Thai maker of steel wire products, win a favorable ruling this month in an antidumping case in the U.S. Court of International Trade.

U.S. steel wire producers Davis Wire Corp. and Insteel Wire Products Company filed the case, accusing Siam of selling its products in the U.S. for less than fair value.

The U.S. Commerce Department initially determined that Siam had not dumped the subject merchandise, but Davis and Insteel appealed that ruling to the Court of International Trade.

On appeal, the Court of International Trade likewise concluded that Siam is not required to pay dumping duties.

It was a particularly successful outcome for Siam in light of the fact that Davis Wire and Insteel have targeted other foreign wire producers and have convinced U.S. regulators to impose dumping duties on those targets.

“This was a great win for Siam, which is not subject to the dumping order and is free to sell to the U.S. market,” Lebow said.

Lebow has been skillfully representing clients in international trade cases for more than 30 years. He obtains relief for U.S. industries injured by dumped or subsidized imports and successfully defends foreign companies against such actions. Lebow is especially adept in advising clients on how to comply with U.S. trade laws and avoid costly legal proceedings.
