Texas Lawyer Explores Haynes and Boone's Longstanding Efforts to Promote Women

November 30, 2018

Haynes and Boone, LLP was featured in a Texas Lawyer magazine article in December that looked at the creative approaches firms have taken to retain and promote female lawyers. The article discusses the firm’s efforts, since its founding, to promote gender diversity and quotes Partners Ellen McGinnis and Erin England at length, discussing the Finance Practice Group’s recent success at promoting women.

The two-page article, titled “Same Goal, Different Plan: Texas Firms get Creative with Their Women Initiatives,” is the magazine’s December cover story.

Here is a snapshot:

Under the leadership of firm founders Mike Boone and Richard Haynes, Haynes and Boone has been hiring women, including many for its Finance Practice Group, since the firm was founded in 1970. The Finance Practice Group has benefited. Since 2015, women have comprised 70 percent of the partner promotions in the Finance Practice Group, including both of the group’s new partners in 2018. Today, women comprise 44 percent of the 55-lawyer Finance Practice Group at Haynes and Boone, and 39 percent of the group’s partners are women.
