Haynes Boone advised Beacon Capital, a venture capital firm focused on enterprise tech, on its investment in legal technology company Definely as part of the company’s $30 million Series B funding round.
Founded by former Magic Circle lawyers Nnamdi Emelifeonwu and Feargus MacDaeid, Definely offers an integrated suite of AI-powered products that help users throughout the complete pre-execution stage of contract drafting. Surface precedent clauses gain deeper insight into provisions and automate hundreds of proofreading checks — all seamlessly within Microsoft Word.
The Haynes Boone team was led by London Partner Andrew Pannell with support from Associate David Harris.
“We were pleased to advise the Beacon Capital team on another standout investment,” said Pannell. “This deal brought together multiple stakeholders in a fast-moving, competitive round and it was a privilege to help structure a clean, founder-aligned outcome that reflects the commercial instincts and strategic clarity of our colleagues at Beacon Capital.”
Definely’s technology is used daily by leading global law firms and corporate legal departments to accelerate contract workflows and reduce friction in document-heavy processes. This was a competitive round of fundraising that had attracted significant interest from international investors. The investment by Beacon Capital aligns closely with Beacon’s thesis on how agentic AI is catalysing automation in enterprise environments.
“Andrew and David were instrumental in helping us secure the right protections and move quickly through a complex, multi-party transaction,” said Maria Dramalioti-Taylor, managing partner at Beacon Capital. “Definely is a rare example of a multi-agentic AI product with real usage, deep founder-market fit and strong pull from sophisticated legal teams. We are thrilled to support the Definely team as they enter their next phase of global scale.”
This transaction adds to Haynes Boone’s growing track record in advising venture capital clients on investments in high-growth, AI-driven enterprise software companies.
