Experienced Transactional Lawyer Brandon Jones Returns to Haynes Boone

January 04, 2023
Transactional lawyer Brandon Jones has returned to Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the Business Planning & Tax Practice Group. He will be based in the firm’s Fort Worth office.

Brandon has provided sophisticated legal advice for more than 20 years and has represented clients in a broad range of transactional matters, including M&A transactions, public and private offerings, formation of legal entities, negotiating and drafting joint venture agreements, as well as tax planning and structuring across a variety of industries, such as real estate, energy, entertainment, healthcare, hospitality, finance, insurance, retail, waste recycling and disposal, and car wash and auto detailing.

Brandon has experience working with many different types of business entities, including corporations, partnerships, LLCs, REITs, and MLPs. In addition, he has considerable experience representing clients participating in the Federal Opportunity Zone (OZ) program. In particular, he represents both fund sponsors and investors in this space, assisting them with the formation of qualified opportunity funds (QOFs) and qualified opportunity zone businesses (QOZBs) and related planning and compliance matters.

“Because of his ability to handle a wide variety of legal transactions and counsel clients concerning both the corporate and tax implications of various investment and financing strategies, Brandon is able to serve as a one-stop shop for many clients,” said Lauren White, chair of Haynes Boone’s Business Planning & Tax Practice Group. “Our clients will benefit from Brandon’s practical and creative approach to finding the best solutions for them to achieve their strategic objectives. He is easy to work with and exceptionally responsive to client needs.”

Brandon began his legal career at Haynes Boone. Most recently, he was a shareholder in the Tax Practice Group at Winstead PC, representing closely held and family-owned businesses, family offices, and private equity clients in connection with a variety of transactional and tax matters.

Brandon said he chose to return to Haynes Boone’s because of its global brand, robust tax and M&A practice, and deep roster of private equity clients. “I’m excited to be a part of a corporate team of this caliber, doing what I enjoy,” he said. “I also was enticed by the fact that Haynes Boone has continued to grow and prosper since I left.”

Among his many other legal accolades, Brandon was named one of The Best Lawyers in America (2022-2023) and Tarrant County’s Top Attorneys for Tax in Fort Worth Magazine (2008-2022).
