Haynes Boone served as Texas counsel to Renesas Electronics America Inc. in connection with Wolfspeed, Inc.’s Chapter 11 restructuring, which took effect Sept. 29, 2025, following the entry of a confirmation order by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on Sept. 8. Renesas is a leading global provider of semiconductor solutions.
Wolfspeed filed for Chapter 11 protection on June 30, 2025, to implement a prepackaged plan that reduces its funded debt by approximately $4.6 billion. Wolfspeed’s principal creditors, including Renesas—one of its largest unsecured lenders owed over $2 billion—supported the plan under a Restructuring Support Agreement negotiated before the filing. The plan was confirmed on Sept. 8 and was substantially consummated and made effective on Sept. 29, in accordance with its terms.
Haynes Boone Restructuring Partner Charles A. Beckham Jr. and Associate David Trausch represented Renesas in the proceedings, working alongside lead counsel at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
“We were pleased to support Renesas in achieving a favorable and timely resolution,” said Beckham. “It was a collaborative effort across multiple jurisdictions and legal teams, and we are proud to have contributed to this successful outcome.”
