Biography

Gabriel Berg is a partner in the Litigation Practice Group in Haynes Boone’s New York office with experience in complex commercial jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations for both plaintiffs and defendants across various business sectors. He approaches each case by evaluating strategic decisions through the lens of trial impact, regardless of whether the matter proceeds to settlement or trial.

Gabe has resolved cases through motion practice and interlocutory appeal and has developed trial experience since his first year of legal practice. He considers pretrial preparation, cross-examination, and nimble in-trial strategy as important elements for effective trial advocacy. Throughout his career, Gabe has handled cases involving claims such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, other business torts and patent infringement.

In a recent bench trial in New York, Gabe cross-examined a defendant who was subsequently found in criminal contempt of court and sentenced to 30 days in prison after being found to have committed perjury. He also secured a $4.3 million judgment in favor of his client. In another case, Gabe represented a client in a matter that led to an investigation and disciplinary actions, including suspension and disbarment, against two Maryland attorneys. This action resulted in a $17 million judgment for his client, which was affirmed on appeal.

Gabe has also provided representation to the Southern Poverty Law Center and participated as a poll watcher during the 2004 Presidential Election. As a law student, he worked in the Senate Counsel's office for the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.
