The IJGlobal Awards have awarded the Digital Infrastructure Deal of the Year, Africa to Haynes Boone client Raxio Group for securing a landmark $100 million financing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to accelerate its pan-African expansion of Tier III carrier-neutral colocation data centres. The recognition honours the firm’s role in advising Raxio Group, a leading pan-African data centre developer and operator, through this transaction.
The winning transaction, which marked a significant milestone for Africa’s digital infrastructure landscape, represents the IFC’s largest digital infrastructure investment to date on the continent. The financing supports Raxio’s rollout of Tier III colocation data centres across Sub-Saharan Africa, meeting surging demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence services and resilient data capacity.
Haynes Boone’s Project Finance deal team structured and negotiated the complex financing package, which includes concessional funding from the GROW Facility and the IDA Private Sector Window. The transaction was led by Partner Conrad Purcell, with support from Counsel Shu Shu Wong and Associates Kayley Rousell and Zainab Al‑Qaimi.
“We are honoured to have supported Raxio Group in this transaction, which helps expand digital capacity across Africa,” said Purcell. “This recognition reflects our commitment to supporting investments that deliver lasting economic and social impact.”
“Reliable digital infrastructure is becoming foundational to Africa’s economic growth,” said Robert Skjødt, Chief Executive Officer of Raxio Group. “The IFC investment enables Raxio to accelerate the development of world class, carrier neutral data centres across the continent and we are proud that the transaction has been recognized as Digital Infrastructure Deal of the Year.”
This award highlights Haynes Boone’s deep capabilities in cross‑border project finance and its longstanding work supporting transformative infrastructure initiatives in emerging markets. The firm’s Project Finance and Development Practice is consistently recognized for its global reach and experience across the full lifecycle of project development and financing.
The award was presented at the IJGlobal Awards gala dinner on March 12, 2026, where more than 350 leaders from the infrastructure and energy investment community gathered to celebrate outstanding achievements in global greenfield project development.
