Biography
Eduardo Corzo is a legal advisor with more than 20 years of experience in the banking and finance industry, recognized for his trusted counsel to leading financial institutions in Mexico and the United States. His practice focuses on structuring complex domestic and cross-border lending transactions, project finance, and financial regulatory compliance, particularly where there is a strong U.S.-Mexico nexus.
Eduardo regularly represents commercial and development banks in all aspects of secured and syndicated lending, including the preparation and negotiation of loan agreements, guarantees (mortgages, pledges, and guarantee trusts), letters of credit, and security structures. He also has significant experience in financial trusts (fideicomisos), both for structured finance and wealth management purposes.
In cross-border matters, Eduardo is a go-to advisor for U.S. financial institutions involved in transactions with Mexican borrowers, guarantors, or collateral, helping them navigate Mexico’s complex financial and regulatory landscape with confidence.
Beyond his core banking and finance work, Eduardo brings multidisciplinary strength in corporate and M&A, real estate, energy and oil and gas, maritime law, and infrastructure projects. He regularly advises clients on major power and renewables projects, upstream and downstream energy matters, and offshore oil and gas operations. His experience includes negotiating project and commercial contracts with state entities such as CFE and Pemex, and handling permitting, regulatory compliance, and credit risk mitigation strategies.
Eduardo has significant maritime law experience, particularly in offshore energy operations. He advises shipping and oil services companies on charter agreements, maritime finance, vessel guarantees, and flag and permit regulations in Mexico.
Eduardo’s corporate and transactional experience spans domestic and international M&A, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, and investment structuring. In the real estate sector, he is skilled in land acquisitions, title review, leasing, and hospitality development, with a strong understanding of Mexico’s agrarian regime and public property registries.
