Gavin D. George
Biography
Gavin George advises companies on privacy, data protection, and technology transactions in the information age. He counsels clients on international, federal, and state privacy compliance matters, including issues arising under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He has been a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) since 2014.
Companies rely on Gavin to launch and guide privacy compliance programs. His work includes drafting privacy policies, preparing data processing agreements, implementing personal information processing consents, handling data subject access requests, and advising on data breach preparedness and response.
Gavin also represents clients in technology-driven commercial transactions. He negotiates and drafts agreements involving the licensing, development, and transfer of software, data, and technology, including commercial software licenses, technology development agreements, IT services contracts, SaaS agreements, distribution agreements, cloud computing arrangements, and outsourcing transactions.
His experience extends to matters involving open-source software, cloud platforms, sensitive and personal data, social media accounts, and health-related data. He regularly advises on privacy, intellectual property, data transfer, and technology transfer issues arising in mergers, acquisitions, capital investments, spin-offs, and bankruptcies. Gavin also counsels on compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the CAN-SPAM Act.
Gavin holds a B.S. in chemical engineering in addition to his law degree.
