D CEO magazine and the Association for Corporate Growth recognized VF Corporation’s 2017 acquisition of Fort Worth-based Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co., an $820 million transaction, among the biggest deals of the past year.
The transaction, for which a Haynes and Boone, LLP team led by Partners Brian Barnard and Tom Tippetts advised Williamson-Dickie, was a finalist in the Strategic Acquisition/Merger category of the D CEO/ACG Dallas/Fort Worth 2018 Mergers and Acquisition Awards.
The deal also recently was named the Global M&A Network’s Global Consumer Goods Deal of the Year in the mid-market.
The transaction generated widespread media attention as it brought together North Texas’ iconic Williamson-Dickie, the world’s leading provider of professional grade performance workwear, and North Carolina-based VF, one of the world’s largest apparel, footwear and accessories companies and owner of such well-known brands as The North Face, Wrangler, and Vans.
Haynes and Boone lawyers assisting Barnard and Tippetts on the transaction included Partners Jennifer Wisinski, Susan Wetzel, Mary Mendoza and Ken Bezozo; Counsel Sharon Cooper; and Associates Maria Hopper and Bryan Diebels.
