International Arbitration Partner Philipp Kurek Joins Haynes Boone in London

May 6, 2026

Haynes Boone has welcomed Partner Philipp Kurek to its London office, further strengthening the firm’s international arbitration capabilities amid increasing global disputes. His arrival enhances the firm’s ability to support clients across key global markets, including the energy, mining and metals industries.

Kurek joins Haynes Boone from Signature Litigation, a leading disputes boutique, where he was a partner in the London office and played a key role in the continued growth and global profile of the firm’s international arbitration practice. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at Kirkland & Ellis, where he trained, qualified and was promoted to partner, helping build the firm’s investment arbitration capabilities.

Kurek’s practice spans both investor-state arbitration and cross-border commercial arbitration. He regularly acts in high-value disputes between investors and states under the ICSID and UNCITRAL rules, as well as in commercial arbitrations conducted under all major institutional rules. He has represented clients across Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the United States in a wide range of industries, including energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology and aerospace.

“Philipp’s arrival reinforces our continued investment in capabilities that are critical to our clients and augment our existing strengths,” said London Office Managing Partner Nick Davis. “His track record in investor‑state arbitration and complex disputes adds depth to our team and enhances how we support clients in arbitrations.”

Kurek will collaborate closely with Haynes Boone’s global disputes teams, including the firm’s Latin America practice and Mexico City office, and will contribute to firmwide initiatives focused on emerging regulatory, transactional and geopolitical risk issues.

“Haynes Boone is at an exciting point in its growth, particularly in London,” said Kurek. “There is a clear ambition to grow the London office and the international arbitration practice, and I’m looking forward to contributing to that. The firm’s strength in energy and infrastructure, combined with its collaborative culture and global platform, creates a strong opportunity to support clients on cross-border matters.”

Kurek’s arrival follows the recent addition of Partner Angus Ford and Counsel Martha Williams to the London office, whose combined experience further strengthens the firm’s growing focus on data centers, logistics and living sector development and investment. He is the seventh partner to join in London since the beginning of 2025, further positioning Haynes Boone to capitalize on increasing demand across Europe and beyond.

Haynes Boone’s London office continues to build momentum following its relocation to a larger space in the City of London at the end of 2025 to support continued growth. Now in its second decade, the office has expanded both headcount and capabilities while driving increased deal activity across key practice areas, including real estate, finance and energy.
