Haynes and Boone Lawyers Contribute to 2020-2021 Edition of Texas Environmental Law Treatise

December 14, 2020

Eight Haynes and Boone, LLP lawyers led by Senior Counsel Jeff Civins, together with other members of the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, updated chapters in the recently released 2020-2021 edition of the Texas Environmental Law treatise published by Thomson Reuters as Volumes 45 and 46 of its Texas Practice Series.

Co-edited by Civins, Baker Botts Partner Aileen Hooks and Lyn Clancy, a Managing Associate General Counsel and Senior Water Policy Advisor for the Lower Colorado River Authority, the book includes in-depth discussions of topics relating to environmental law, as well as an overview of pertinent state agencies, administrative procedures, and enforcement.

Some of the topics explored in the updated treatise include: storage tanks, the Texas Risk Reduction Program, torts, citizen suits and public participation, environmental aspects of business transactions, insurance, and COVID-19 response planning and management.

The Haynes and Boone contributors include Partners Ann Al-Bahish, Michael Mazzone, Mary Mendoza, Suzanne Murray, Adam Sencenbaugh and Leslie Thorne, and Associates Carlos Carrasco and Andrew Van Osselaer.

Under the direction of Civins, the treatise has been updated annually since the first edition was published in 1997. As explained in the preface of the updated treatise: “The purpose of this work is to provide useful information about the practice of environmental law in Texas not only to practitioners of environmental law, but also to other practitioners, and not only to attorneys, but also to environmental consultants, corporate environmental managers, and private citizens. It is intended to be a handy go-to reference that explains this complex area of law and gives valuable practice pointers.”
