A transaction in which Haynes and Boone, LLP advised Royal Dutch Shell plc in the sale of an Argentinian downstream business has been nominated for the 2018 Latin Lawyer Transaction of the Year award in the Private Mergers and Acquisitions category.
The winners will be announced during Latin Lawyer’s 13th-annual Deal of the Year Awards event on Wednesday, April 10, at the Hotel Palácio Tangará in São Paulo.
Haynes and Boone’s Energy Practice Group advised affiliates of Royal Dutch Shell in the sale of its downstream business to Raízen, a Brazilian energy company, for $950 million in cash proceeds. The multi-jurisdictional transaction involved parties in the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, The Hague, and the UK.
The deal is an opportunity for Raizen to “expand and replicate its successful model implemented in Brazil,” the company told Law360.
The Haynes and Boone team, led by Partner Ricardo Garcia-Moreno, included Partners Alberto de la Peña and Patricia Mastropierro, Associates Valisa Berber-Thayer and others.
