Haynes Boone Federal Circuit Practice Ranked 2nd of 1,000-Plus Firms in Patexia Report

November 04, 2025

Patexia’s 2025 CAFC Intelligence Report has ranked Haynes Boone’s Federal Circuit Appellate Practice Group second out of over 1,000 firms presenting in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) based on number of cases and success rate. The practice is also eighth overall based on the number of cases it handled for both appellees and appellants.

Additionally, Partner Debbie McComas ranked first in overall performance and in appellant performance and Partner Angela Oliver ranked fourth in overall performance, with both attorneys placing in the top 10 in overall activity.

To create its report, Patexia reviewed 3,853 CAFC cases originating from district courts, the International Trade Commission and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Other firm rankings include:

  • Fourth overall in Appellant Performance
  • Fifth overall in Appellee Performance
  • Overall performance score of 98.14 percent

In addition to McComas and Oliver, Haynes Boone has 10 other attorneys ranked in this year’s report:

These rankings follow the publication of a Law360 article in July that touted McComas and Oliver as the “duo to beat at the Federal Circuit,” having won all seven patent appeals they had argued to date this year. The legal news outlet highlighted the success and strategies of their arguments and explored the career paths that have developed them into the attorneys they are today.
