A multidisciplinary team from Haynes Boone advised Australian-based private equity firm SKJ Capital in its successful acquisition of Alamo Beer Co., one of San Antonio’s most prominent craft breweries, out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The transaction brought together a cross-practice Haynes Boone team advising on mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, real estate, licensing, environmental matters, tax and intellectual property. The matter reflects the firm’s ongoing work with international investors pursuing opportunities in the United States involving distressed or transitional assets.

As part of the transaction, SKJ Capital also assumed a licensing agreement to continue promoting Alamo Beer in the Hulu streaming reboot of “King of the Hill,” a nod to the brewery’s pop culture appeal.

Alamo Beer Co. will continue its operations in downtown San Antonio under the new ownership.
