Haynes Boone Represents Cathay Capital in Strategic Investment in CPAP.com

January 13, 2022

A Haynes and Boone, LLP deal team led by Associate Brent Beckert and Partner Sakina Rasheed Foster represented investment firm Cathay Capital in its strategic investment in CPAP.com.

The investment will benefit CPAP.com as it accelerates its development and strengthens its leadership position in the field of sleep apnea treatment, the companies said in a release.

Cathay Capital Group is a global investment firm supporting companies at all stages throughout North America, Asia, Europe and Africa.
Founded in 2007, Cathay Capital now manages over $4.5B in assets, has completed over 220 buyouts, growth and venture capital investments with the global reach and local expertise from offices in Paris, New York, Shanghai, Munich, San Francisco, Beijing, Singapore, Shenzhen, and Tel Aviv.

Founded in 1999, and based in Houston, CPAP.com serves the $3.7 billion market for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) equipment. With the risks related to an aging population, increasing rates of obesity and other factors that were accelerated during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is increasing awareness about the widespread yet largely undiagnosed OSA condition affecting more than 50 million Americans.

Beckert served as Mergers and Acquisitions counsel to Cathay and was assisted by Associates Reem Abdelrazik, Emilie Battipede Heck, Kate Register, and Eli Brook.

Foster is a member of the Finance Practice and represents borrowers and financial institutions in complex commercial loan transactions. She was assisted by Finance Associates Cody Cravens and Angel Rendon.

The lawyers were assisted by a broader team of Haynes Boone lawyers, including Partners Jennifer Kreick (Health Care/FDA), Suzie Trigg (Health Care/FDA), Lauren White (Tax), Raquel Alvarenga (Labor/Employment), Sam Lichtman (Tax), Gavin George (IP), Counsel Scott Thompson (Benefits), and Associates Kayla Cristales (Health Care/FDA), Lucy Hong (Benefits), and Annie Allison (IP).
