Transactions for Satcom Direct and Construction Partners Earn International Deal of The Year Honors from The M&A Advisor

June 20, 2025

Two of Haynes Boone’s most impactful and significant transactions from 2024 will be honored at the 16th Annual International M&A Awards.

The M&A Advisor announced on June 20 that the 2025 Telecommunications Deal of the Year winner is the $600 million sale of Satcom Direct to Gogo Inc., while the Corporate/Strategic Deal of the Year ($500 million–$1 billion) is the $950 million acquisition of Lone Star Paving by Construction Partners, Inc.

In the former, a Haynes Boone team led by Partners Brent Beckert and Kenric Kattner helped combine two leaders in inflight connectivity and aviation solutions, positioning Gogo for next-generation growth in business aviation. The team also included M&A Senior Counsel Steven Buxbaum, Corporate Counsel Kourtney Lyda and M&A Associates Joshua Reisman, Spencer Bateman, Ryan Ward and Janet Wyse, along with a cross-disciplinary team of subject-matter specialists.

"Haynes Boone’s full-service team provided the expert guidance we needed to navigate this complex deal," Satcom Direct President Chris Moore said when the deal signed. "Their in-depth industry knowledge and collaborative approach were invaluable in helping us achieve this successful outcome.”

Meanwhile, Partner Kellie Bobo led the effort counseling Construction Partners, Inc. in its near-billion-dollar acquisition – a transaction involving regional heavyweights that expanded Construction Partners’ footprint across Texas and enhanced its infrastructure capabilities throughout the region. The deal team also featured M&A support from Partner Bryan Diebels and Associates Rachael Williams and Taylor Calvert, finance contributions from Partners Sakina Rasheed Foster and Paul Amiel and Associates Laura Shapiro and Serena Heydari, and capital markets work from Partners Rosebud Nau and Greg Samuel and Associates Rachel O’Donnell and Alexa Cooper.

Beckert and Bobo also earned M&A Advisor’s Emerging Leader Award in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

This year’s winners were selected by an independent judging panel and will be honored at the 2025 Leadership in Dealmaking Summit in New York City on Sept. 15-16.
